I love CA… Grew up in the East Bay and shuttled over to the city (SF, for non-bay area residents) every weekend.
To get just far enough from the parents, I went to undergrad in socal, then returned to norcal for med school.
After a very expensive almost-decade in school, I landed a job in finance in the city and moved there to begin my career.
I met my BF in my last year of med school, and our weekend jaunts alternating between SF and wine country (where he lived) worked out unexpectedly well. So well, in fact, that after a couple years of dating, we decided to move in together. Since my apartment was smaller, more expensive, and my landlord was about to start construction in the 2 floors above me, it was a no-brainer– we consolidated into my BF’s place.
And that is how I came to live in the beautiful wine country! For a city girl, it’s been a big change, but although my commute is doubled, it’s definitely worth it.
Since the big thing this year is staycations, I thought I’d profile a few of my favorite things in/around the CA cities I love.
In no particular order: Berkeley, SF, Napa/Sonoma, Hermosa Beach… Stay tuned…
