If your style is more the uber-informed RTW who loves living like a local and having great stories to tell…

For your culture fix, check out the Mission, the area bordered roughly by U.S. Route 101, Church Street, Cesar Chavez Street, and Duboce Avenue/Division Street.

Mission Dolores is a historic landmark surrounded by a grassy park– great for picnics on sunny days.

For lunch, I’m actually going to stay away from recommending any particular place… you’re in the heart of the Mission, look around and follow your nose to whatever smells good. It’s quite hard to go wrong. But just fyi, people have very definite opinions on the best place for burritos, tacos, etc. around here, so if you ask 3 individuals on the street, you may very well get as many options.

For an amazing view of the city, check out Medjool and the rooftop bar. (Cash only!) While it can get obnoxiously packed late at night, it’s definitely tolerable for short periods of time. Plus, when you go earlier, you can take advantage of the sunset colors as a backdrop for the Bay Bridge.

Dance on over to Cha Cha Cha for tapas and sangria at dinnertime– it can get noisy but is a fun date night spot! Plus, sharing from the same plate is a flirty way to get up close and personal…

Or, if you’re in the mood for a little more intimate dinner, check out Foreign Cinema, a unique spot with a gorgeous courtyard. They project foreign movies on the walls all night, which is a great conversation piece, and the food is fresh, fun, and well-executed. Funny side note: my firm and the BF’s firm both held holiday dinners here, 3 days apart. I really enjoyed my salmon with red lentils (night 1) and the steak (night 2). So yummy!
