Heartbreaking... (And lamely, reminds me of My Sister's Keeper.)

I don't know if you've read any Atul Gawande, but I think you'd like him a lot. He is a general surgeon in Boston, and also a fantastic writer. He has several books, and a lot of his work starts as short pieces in The New Yorker. He recently wrote about hospice care: www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/02/100802fa_fact_gawande

I stumbled upon your blog (from the word Ennui no less) and flicking through your 'to do' list I was mentally ticking yes and no to them as I went. Some I've done that you've wanted to: skydive, camp in the outback, safari in africa, work for a non profit, grow fruit trees and heirloom tomatos. Others I've got on my list too: rescue a dog from a pound, make my 30s the new 20s (currently 33), get certified in pilates... .

Nice to see someone across the seas (I'm in Australia) has a similar list they're working through. Best of luck with them all.

This world, our lives are wide with possibility but increasingly short on time.

Very true,

couldn't agree more. Usually, groceries outlet have wines that are under priced, however, you have to know what you're looking for. I first bought 1 bottle of this for $9.99 (northern california), opened it recently at some friends' party. really liked it.
Typically, Pinot Nior has a lighter color when pour, this had a much darker, deep ruby color. Let it sit just for a few minutes, and stir in your glass, I was surprised with its aroma. Quite a full nose, layered plum and dark cherry, with background of oak . It has very good front contact with the mouth, however, I would like the finish to last a bit longer. Definitely in the mid to upper 80s in points.

Pinot is a very sensitive grape, making good Pinot isn't easy, because of its deep ruby color, I assumed its content of good skins (potentially tannins), thus, it can cellar for quite sometime, longer than 4-6 years as stated by Nobilo.

Nevertheless, for under $10 bucks, it's a great bottle. I came back to the store, and stocked up, believe it or not, they even knocked it down to $5.99 per bottle because they didn't have as many of them as any more. Well, they're out of stock now.

Hope this'd help!
Thank you

Wow.

This line totally got me:" The unspoken rule was, if you stop someone else dies."

I mean, the whole thing got me. But I think you know what I'm saying.

Great writing. I'm looking forward (sort of - I'm scared too, haha) of part 2.

First let me say congrats on your engagement. I have been gone for so long that I didn't know you were engaged. I am also planning my wedding which will be April of 2011 in Sonoma.

Those dresses are adorable! I am still trying to figure out what my beautiful ladies will wear. I don't want wedding looking dresses and I want them to be stylish.

Hope all is well with you?
